You are made of energy – that’s what all that carbon, hydrogen and oxygen that make up every cell in your body is composed of. And since you are an energy being, what you focus on is where your energy goes.
Where you focus your energy produces results, both positive and negative. You can actually shift what is showing up in your life by becoming aware of your patterns and making minor adjustments. Take time to reflect and observe. Are you getting closer or farther away from your desired outcomes? Where are you directing your energy? Are you focused on what you do want or what you don’t want?
Having worked with individuals and companies for many years, I have experienced first-hand how much easier it is for people to be clear on what they don’t want in their life. Consistently, after hearing what is not working for a person, I ask, “So what is it you do want?” And more frequently than not, the question is met with silence. If the discussion is in person, I’m often met with a blank face and a glazed look. Why? Because there is little positive specificity on what the desired outcome looks like, sounds like and feels like. All one knows is what it feels like not having what one wants.
And yes, things are easier said than done. So here are some helpful tips that you can do to shift your energy and focus to experience empowering and positive outcomes as you move forward on your journey in life:
Get Clear: What is your desired outcome? State your outcome in the positive… What do you want instead of what you don’t. For example: “To be healthy, vibrant, energetic and productive at work and home” versus “I’m sick of not having enough energy to be productive at work and home”.
Give yourself sensory based information: What will you hear, see and feel? What things will you see in your life that will let you know you have achieved your desired outcome? Write down a minimum of three things that you will see in your life that will let you know you have achieved your outcome.
What will you hear people saying about you, and what will you be saying to yourself? Write down these statements.
How will achieving your desired outcome make you feel? As humans, we are driven by emotion and do things that feel good. Notice where in your body this feeling is located. What color(s) are associated with this feeling? Does it have a shape and temperature? The more sensory-based information you give yourself, the more likely you will produce the results you want.
Now is the time to take care of YOU, and focus on what you DO want. Shift your mindset by shifting your energy and focus. And remember, what you focus on expands!
