Oh, What a Night!

Jan 29th, 2018

Back in the day, one of my very favorite songs was titled “Oh what a night!” And what a night it was on January 13, 2018! More than 100 beautiful, passionate and joyful women convened for Rosetta Thurman’s Happy Black Woman 3-Day Mindset Retreat at the Bonaventure Resort and Spa in Fort Lauderdale.

For the second straight year, Rosetta Thurman placed her confidence and attendees in the hands of Fire Power Seminars. Connie Phelan, founder of Fire Power Seminars, presented “Breaking Barriers – Taking Inspired Action to Achieve Your Big Goals” to the group of women who traveled from the U.S. and abroad. This board breaking program is designed to help people become aware of, and push through, their perceived limitations. It is difficult to determine who gained the most insight and inspiration from the event – the students or the teachers!

“Karen Pfeffer, co-founder of Fire Power Seminars and I always seem to leave our Women Empowering Women events empowered and inspired ourselves. There is something about being in a room full of women encouraging each other to break through what is holding them back. The sounds of breaking boards, cheers and laughter fill the air. It is as if lightening is striking with every board broken, symbolizing a woman stepping up and claiming her power. It is a very moving and fulfilling experience to work with the awesome Happy Black Women tribe.” ~ Connie Phelan, Founder and President of Fire Power Seminars

Since 2006 we have been blessed to provide programs that empower and inspire organization and individuals to discover and break through their limitations to realize their full potential. As it often happens, a special theme seems to emerge from the collaboration of the event participants, and this women empowering women seminar was no different. At the end of the session, a participant voluntarily took to the stage and tearfully acknowledged that she has taken the burden of her family and coworkers over many decades to the point of desperation and exhaustion. At our board breaking event, she learned the value of extending her strength by asking for help. When she did so, her fellow participants encouraged and pushed her through a difficult culmination to her task. She shared that, in her whole life, she was never aware of what joy can come from asking for help!

Here are a few more comments from the wonderful group we worked with:

“If you lay aside the chatter and focus on the other side, you can do it… I will speak of this event for the rest of my life!”

“You are God-inspired and leading women through barriers they didn’t know they had. Keep up the great work!”

“Limits are the voices in our mind that we choose to listen to instead of turning a deaf ear.”

“This was emotional, uplifting, empowering and one of the best bonding experiences I’ve ever witnessed or experienced.”

“I am capable of more than I imagined.”

“I would encourage future participants to do it because it is so empowering. Do it even if you are afraid – it will change your life!”
