3 Unique Ways to Improve Your Confidence and Motivation

Apr 21st, 2016

Don’t let anyone stop you from being your best… not even yourself.

Your personal motivation might rely on your confidence, or your confidence might rely on your motivation to be your best. Both are necessary to feel great about yourself and your path — you definitely don’t want to sacrifice either. If you’re in need of a bit of confidence or motivation, why not attempt a few of these unique ways to improve them?

Communicating Effectively

  1. Stop comparing yourself to others

With so much of our time spent competing with one another, staying positive can be really difficult at times. The pressures of wanting to be the best can really add up over time.

Just remember that there are over 8 billion people in this world. There will almost always be someone better than you at what you do even if it’s your profession or passion! But there are also others who don’t quite measure up to your skill level. Although there are people better than you at something, there’s still someone working hard just to get where you are. Don’t get yourself upset by comparing yourself!

Life isn’t a competition, so don’t treat it like one. Just go through life a little bit at a time, doing what you can to get by and enjoy it. You can use the success of others to motivate you to always push harder, but don’t pressure yourself into competing with those around you. It’s just not worth it.

  1. Shut out negative self-talk

Whether it’s because someone is seemingly “better” than you at something, or their looks fit the warped standards of beauty the media accepts as supreme, you have to remember that you are equally as valuable. Maybe you just don’t feel great about yourself, even without comparing yourself to those around you but that doesn’t mean you should put yourself down. The best way to change your negative feelings about yourself is to stop thinking negatively and treating yourself that way. You’ll never gain confidence if you’re constantly knocking yourself down.

It doesn’t always take someone else’s negativity to feel bad about yourself — sometimes your own is enough to shatter your motivation. So kick the habit!

Start by speaking to yourself with respect. Look in the mirror and stop nit-picking what you see. Instead, be grateful that you have working eyes or healthy lungs, and that you’re able to spend another day above ground. Positive self-talk keeps us focused on the present and creates more energy, promotes creative thinking and helps us achieve success.

  1. Attend an empowering breakthrough seminar

Stop telling yourself you can’t when you really can. Surprise yourself with your strength, poise, and bravery. You might be surprised at the confidence and motivation you can attain through a seminar. You’ll have the opportunity to meet others who are interested in self-improvement and learning like you are, and you’ll get to bond with people outside of your regular circles. It’s a win-win situation!
